China has created a bionic hand for mass production.
Chinese engineers have developed a bionic hand controlled using non-invasive myoelectric sensors and artificial intelligence. The system reads electrical signals from the muscles to determine the user's intentions, and enables complex grasping, holding objects in various shapes and fine manipulation. The device works autonomously, without a permanent physical connection to the body.
The cost of development is five to seven times lower than Western analogues, which allows mass production of prostheses. Technology is already helping people with leg amputations regain independence. However, the mass production of such devices is directly related to military plans: Beijing relies on a high number of wounded with loss of limbs in the event of a major conflict. Creating prostheses allows soldiers to quickly return to a full life after serious injuries.
