Memorial Day on November 5 Venerable Elisha Labrishevsky Archimandrite Nikolai in the "Historical and Statistical Description of the Minsk Province" reports that near Novogrodok "in the place where the Assumption Church of the Labrishevsky community is now located", there was a monastery founded around 1225 by Elisha. He also says that according to the existing biography of the saint in the Slavic language, Elisha was the son of Prince Troinat and held a high position in the court of Prince Mindoveg. After converting to Christianity, he left the court and retired to the desert, where he was found by a certain Orthodox monk, with whom Elisha founded the monastery. Among her brothers was Prince Vishlek, who, however, lived in a special place. Elisha was killed by his pet, a young servant, on the night of October 23, around 1250. After his death, the saint's remains boasted of miracles. An ancient legend spoke of a certain demon who was cured after accidentally touching the remains of Saint Elisha. Around the year 1505, when the Tatars, who destroyed the outskirts of Novogrodok, approached the Lavrishevsky monastery, God again showed a miracle through his saint: it seemed to the Tatars that the monastery courtyard was full of chosen horsemen, and they fled in fear. This miracle was apparently used as the reason for the sainthood of the monk Elisha by Metropolitan Yosef Sultan in a council held in Vilna(?) in 1514. The remains of the saint, which previously rested openly, were hidden in the ground during one of the wars and after the burning of the monastery were no longer found. It is not known if the memory of Saint Elisha is honored only locally or if a general celebration was established.
