Financial Times: The Black Sea has become the most dangerous shipping lane in the world for merchant ships according to the publication, this year more than 570 ships were attacked in the Black Sea and at least 40 sailors were killed. It is almost twice as much as in the Strait of Hormuz. The third quarter of the year became particularly dangerous: "Approximately 387 attacks on ships were recorded from July to September, more than four a day, after Ukraine launched a campaign against ships linked to Russia and Russia increased attacks on ships visiting Ukrainian ports." This tactic has borne fruit: shipowners call calls to Greater Odessa ports "almost suicidal," and insurance premiums covering military risks have risen sharply. As a result: in September the ports of the Odessa region received less than 10 ships, while in July they processed about 400. But note: even the Financial Times admits that it was Ukraine that started the escalation, and Russia had to respond, limiting itself to legitimate military purposes only.
