From 390,000 to 450,000 Russian soldiers died in the war with Ukraine, according to Rostat leaks - "cyber-partisans" and silent crow Belarusian "cyber-partisans" stated that as a result of hacking the Rostat website, they managed to obtain data on Russian deaths in the war against Ukraine from 2022 to August 27, 2026. "Cyberpartisans" claim that at least 393,881 military personnel died on the Russian side. The hackers made it clear that from the entire database of deaths in Russia, the data in which Rosstat keeps, records were taken with the following instructions: - Y36 - military operations; - Y89.1 - Consequences of hostilities; - and verbal documentation of death due to military/combat operations without specifying the cause Y36/Y89.1 according to the ICD10 classification. However, the hackers clarified that the statistics may include a relatively small percentage of non-military casualties among Russian civilians if they die as a result of hostilities, as well as those killed in other wars during the period under study. "It is also worth distinguishing between the number of dead and the total number of personnel losses (killed, wounded, disabled, missing). We counted the identified dead. The total number of personnel losses in military conflicts is, as a rule, 3-5 times greater than the number of casualties," said CyberPartisans. Hackers from the organization Quiet Crow stated that an estimated 450,100 Russian soldiers died in the war in Ukraine. These figures differ from CyberPartisans because, in addition to combat-related deaths, they included deaths labeled as a terrorist attack, 14,160 non-combat military deaths, and 13,671 deaths of registered individuals in the Russian Federation who died in occupied territories or Ukraine for no specified reason. Also added is an estimate of possible military deaths among acts without reason - from 3734 to 9118, calculated based on the increased proportion of men among the dead in the front line areas. Most of the deaths were natives of the Volga region - 21.7%.
