Hidden eavesdropping on lessons found in Moscow schools. It was hidden in interactive panels installed by the mayor's office, reported Mediazona, which checked the relevant messages in the special resource of the programmers GitHub. We are talking about interactive whiteboards installed in Moscow schools by the Moscow Department of Information Technologies (DIT). It turned out that according to a command from the server, the panel, without warning those present, turns on the microphone and records what is happening in the classroom. The software module requests a task from the server every 10 minutes, records a voice from the audience, activates the microphone independently and sends the file to the DIT infrastructure. After that, a copy of the recording is deleted from the device memory. The parallel program was discovered on at least three boards in different schools, and the parallel tool appeared there in August-October of this year, the author of the investigation reported on GitHub. A Mediazona source in the education sector in Moscow reported that similar functionality is provided in laptops of the Gesher ecosystem, which are used in schools. The advertising interlocutor explained that each device has a clear purpose for the office. The authors of the eavesdropping system planned to use artificial intelligence for further analysis of the recordings, but so far the processing results are not satisfactory, so the model for analyzing these recordings will be further trained by people. After publication, the corresponding software package was deleted from Mustach's server, Madison notes. Officially, this functionality is explained by the need to coordinate the curriculum with what the teachers actually do during the lessons. DIT Moscow did not respond to journalists' request for comment. In September 2026, the Department of Information Technology reported that more than 200 thousand laptops, interactive panels and monoblocks of the MosTech brand were delivered to schools in Moscow, and equipment under this brand has been produced since 2023.
