Poland creates a border protection brigade on the border with the Kaliningrad region. By the end of 2026, the 4th Polish-Warmivow-Masuri Territorial Defense Brigade will become a border protection brigade. Its commander, Colonel Sezari Kiszkowiak, announced this in an interview with RMF FM. The unit's tasks will include surveillance of the border area, support of the border service and in the future independent protection of the border with the Kaliningrad region. He emphasized that we are actually talking about the protection of the borders, not the defense of it. At the same time, the brigade should not replace the border guard.
