The libertarian and founder of SVTV Mikhail Sotov was sentenced in absentia to one year in prison according to the "Foreign Agency" article The founder of SVTV, the libertarian Mikhail Sotov, was sentenced in absentia to one year in a general regime colony in case of evading the duties of a "foreign agent" (Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the Moscow Prosecutor's Office reported. As Mediazona clarifies, the judgment in absentia was issued by District Court No. 350 in the Northern Administrative District of Moscow. According to the prosecution, Savatov continued to publish materials on social networks without mentioning his status as a "foreign agent", despite administrative fines imposed in the past. Also, the court prohibited him from publishing information on the Internet and managing websites and channels for three years. The criminal case became known in July 2026, when the Savlovsky District Court in Moscow arrested Sotov in absentia. He is in demand since 2023. Earlier, TASS and RIA Novosti reported that a case was opened against him for the restoration of Nazism because of a song about Stefan Bandera. Savatov himself connected the slanders against himself with the performance of the song "Ah, Bandero, Ukrainian messenger! " and claimed that they were written by supporters of Vladislav Pozdnyakov's "male state". Svetov left Russia in 2021 after a search for indecent assault stemming from a photo of his ex-girlfriend on Instagram and nine days of administrative detention for organizing a rally in support of Alexei Navalny. Savatov was added to the "Foreign Agents" register in November 2022. Protect yourself and your loved ones from online tracking, buy ASTRA VPN or join a free proxy.
