North Korea's Korean Central News Agency reported Thursday that Pyongyang test-fired a new advanced air defense missile system, and also conducted drills to target cruise missiles. The agency reported that the air defense test confirmed the technical specifications and reliability of the new equipment and the multiple guidance modes used in the missiles, in addition to the system's ability to identify and track targets. The agency added that a sub-unit associated with a long-range strategic cruise missile unit in the eastern region also carried out a training exercise on Wednesday targeting a hypothetical airport site.
