The coast of northern France witnessed chaos aboard a dinghy full of migrants near Grevelin, with screaming children and passengers running around trying to board the boat and head for Britain. French police intervened to force everyone off, before opening the boat with a knife. The attempt comes after the resumption of the English Channel crossing on Thursday, after a 21-day break due to strong winds and rough seas. According to preliminary figures from the British Home Office, 1,193 people arrived in Britain on board 16 small boats between Thursday and Saturday, including 671 people on Friday alone.
