Bloomberg reported on Sunday that Pakistan was negotiating with Iran to secure the safe passage of the Al Mayada liquefied natural gas tanker before it was attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. The agency cited people familiar with the matter as saying that Iranian authorities had given the tanker the green light to cross just hours before it was attacked, while it was traveling through the strait carrying a shipment of liquefied natural gas from Qatar.
