The Office of the Commander of the Armed Forces in Iraq decided to remove 4 officers in the Ministry of the Interior from their positions, and to establish a commission of inquiry against them, due to "the possibility for members of the Popular Mobilization Forces to insult the American flag".
The decision states that the decisions "came against the background of the aforementioned officers' negligence in their duties and allowed the members of the Popular Mobilization Forces during the Independence Day parade to insult the American flag, which harms international relations."
