On Tuesday evening, the Indian authorities announced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from vulnerable coastal areas in the eastern state of Andhra Pradesh, at the same time as the approach of a strong cyclone from the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to hit the eastern coast of India.
