The President of the United States Donald Trump said that his country did not start a war with Iran, but Iran started a war, as he described it. Trump stated, during an election rally in Mississippi, that Iran was only two weeks away from having a nuclear bomb, describing it as the number one sponsor of terrorism. He added: "Someone had to do it in relation to Iran. This is extremely important, and it should have been done a long time ago," referring to military action against Iran. He continued: "I expected oil prices to rise to much higher levels, and I was fully prepared for that, because we had no other choice in reality."
