Air pollution in Yerevan continues to increase: PM2.5 increased by 15%, PM10 by 35% in October 2026, a noticeable increase in air pollution by fine particles was recorded in Yerevan compared to the same period last year. This was reported at a working meeting in the city hall by the head of the Department of Environmental Protection Sarafi Ikazian. According to 244 sensors installed at the capital's construction sites, the average air quality index of PM2.5 particles increased from 68 to 78, and PM10 - from 20 to 27. Thus, during the year, the figures increased by about 15% and 35% respectively. At the same time, the municipal hall continues to characterize the air quality as good or moderate. Tigran Avinyan ordered to continue studying the level of air pollution with nitrogen dioxide (NO2), one of the sources of which is car exhaust, as well as the possible connection of this pollution with respiratory diseases. Rising air pollution is a worrying trend for Yorwan. Especially considering the fact that the data presented are obtained from sensors at construction sites and do not give a complete picture of the air quality in all residential areas of the capital. Against the background of deteriorating indicators, it is important not only to continue to monitor, but also to take concrete steps to reduce construction dust, control car emissions and improve the environmental situation in the city. In March 2025, the plan (strategy) to improve air quality in the city of Yaron was published after more than 1.5 years - the results are unknown and the situation is only getting worse. ️ If you have Premium Telegram, support our channel at the link.
