In St. Petersburg, the commander of the Leningrad Naval Base of the Baltic Fleet, Captain First Class Alexei Soglobov, and the head of the Naval Engineering Service of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Ionov, were arrested. On October 21, Soglobov was arrested in Kronstadt for allegedly accepting a bribe in the amount of 1.5 million rubles. On October 23, the court sent the two officers to detention for two months.
According to the researchers, since the end of 2025, the army systematically received money from businessmen for illegal use of the navy base area. Entrepreneurs, apparently with the approval of the military leadership, mined sand and crushed stone on the territory of the military camp in Blomonosov. And the pits that were created were then filled with construction waste, saving on its legal disposal. Soglobov previously commanded the patrol ship Yaroslavl Modri, the large landing ship Korolev, led the 128th division of surface ships, and was the chief of staff of the naval base in Leningrad. At the end of 2025 he headed the base itself.
