A member of the "Armenia" faction Gegham Manukyan responded to today's statement of Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly.
"This whole saga with the constitution proves only one thing: not a single word of truth comes from Pashinyan's lips.
At first he came up with various excuses, until finally Ararat Mirzoyan (the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) openly admitted: the draft of the new constitution is a demand of Azerbaijan. To hear from the authorities that the Declaration of Independence is directed against a country is an unprecedented absurdity.
Both Robert Kocharian (the second president of the Republic of Armenia), who did not retreat a single step, despite years of political persecution, and the "Armenia" faction have proven that it is not possible to bargain around national and state interests.
Regarding Pashinyan's threats of "public pressure" against the opposition, this is a declaration of a coup. Pashinyan is just adding new articles to future criminal cases against himself.
Let me remind you: we have already seen a similar seizure and blockade of the Parliament by its supporters on October 2, 2018. But according to the law of the Republic of Armenia, a vote of delegates held under duress will not have any legitimacy," Manukyan said.
