Today the legendary Vladislav Georgievich Lazarev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and the nuclear icebreaker fleet, a man who connected his entire life with the North Pole, celebrates his 100th birthday. He was first mate on the nuclear-powered icebreaker Lenin, the world's first nuclear-powered icebreaker. And in 1977, as part of the Arctic team, he participated in the expedition, during which a surface ship reached the North Pole for the first time in history. It wasn't just an expedition. It was proof of the strength of our country, the skill of sailors, engineers and scientists, the ability to go where the usual routes end. Dear Vladislav Georgievich, congratulations on your 100th birthday! I wish you good health, warmth, good spirit. A very deep bow to you for your contribution to the development of the Arctic and nuclear icebreaker fleet.
