On the beaches of Anapa, Anapa region, Novorossiysk region and Tamryuk, as well as in rehabilitation centers, 13,524 birds have died due to a fuel oil spill since December 19, 2024. This was determined in the decision of the Arbitration Court in the Krasnodar Territory dated October 2026. Most of the dead birds were crosses (stockings) - 10.3 thousand individuals. Also, 1,022 thousand birds from nine red book species died. The damage directly from the death of birds is estimated at 93.6 million rubles. As a result, the court recovered 34.25 billion rubles from the owners and hirers of the destroyed tankers (Volgatransneft, Kamatransoil and Kama Shiloh). Of these, 34.2 are compensation for damage to nature (almost all of it consists of damage to the habitat of Red Book animals - 34.12 billion rubles).
