The prosecutor's office requests to increase the sentence of Alexei Kopaigorodsky to 21 years in prison, and of Yanina Kopaigorodskaya from nine to 16 years. The lower court sentenced the former mayor to 15 years of a strict regime, and his wife to nine years in prison. Each of them was also fined 500 million rubles. The case includes bribery worth 248 million rubles, embezzlement, money laundering and pressure on witnesses. The prosecution considers the punishment too light, and points to a lack of remorse and damage to the interests of the civil service and the reputation of Sochi.
