Written by Adel Al-Dalfi Budget 2027: The government searches in the kitchens of housewives and forgets the kitchens of the privileged! Section (20) of the general budget proposal for 2027 contains text related to the imposition of tax on homeowners who conduct commercial activities from their homes, according to the electronic collection system, based on Income Tax Law No. (113) of 1982.
What a financial genius!
After years of deficits and inflated government expenditures, the government discovered that the solution to saving the treasury lies in the kitchen of the housewife who makes kiva and pastries, or of a woman who sells clothes from her home, or of a young man who tries to establish a small project to secure a living!
But the question that poses itself: why doesn't the government start repairing its house before inspecting the citizens' houses?
Why not start reducing the number of employees in the three presidencies, and examine salaries, allocations and benefits that take huge sums from the public purse? Take the House of Representatives as an example. Estimates are common that the number of its employees exceeds ten thousand employees, a number that deserves actual examination and study to determine the real need for these numbers.
The strangest thing is what some social media sites have reported about the presence of advisers in parliament born in 2005! We don't know how true this information is, but if it is true, then citizens have a right to ask: What qualifications and experience does a counselor at this age have? What is the value of the advice given to members of parliament? What are the criteria according to which it was approved?
Real financial reform begins with reducing the functional slack in the three presidencies, reviewing authorizations and reallocations, holding large tax evaders accountable, and checking unnecessary government spending. However, if the housewife and the small business owner become a target for collection, while the government benefits system remains far from reform, this is not about tax justice or economic reform.
Oh gentlemen of the government, before you calculate the profits of a woman who sells pastries from her kitchen, calculate how much your offices, advisors, protections and privileges cost the state treasury!
Don't make the little citizen pay the country's inflation bill, and don't look for your income in the pockets of the poor while the doors to government waste are still open. Start it yourself A reform that does not expand the rights of officials is not a comprehensive reform!.... How do you judge?
