TRIPP should not threaten the strategic relations between Yerevan and Tehran - there are no foreign forces on the border: Iran's ambassador to Armenia Iran has openly and clearly expressed its concerns regarding possible scenarios for the implementation of the TRIPP project. At the same time, we are sure that in a constructive atmosphere we will be able to face together any challenges in this context. Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Khalil Shirgolomi, stated this on August 30 in a conversation with journalists. "It is important to us that during the discussion of the TRIPP project or any other issue, the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Armenia will be respected. It is also important that no third party can pose a threat to the strategic relations between Armenia and Iran. We will continue to uphold this approach in our bilateral discussions and future work. I am confident that thanks to constant contacts we will be able to solve any problem," noted Shirgolomi. He added that Iran strives to create a format within which it will be possible to hold consultations with Armenia. The diplomat is convinced that this will help to quickly solve any problems that arise. "We are not biased, but there are serious concerns. We expect assurances from Armenia that there will be no foreign forces on the Iranian-Armenian border and that no one on the border or in nearby territories will be able to pose a threat to Iran. High Armenian officials have repeatedly promised that there will be no precedent in this project, because it is a matter of mutual trust. He will not deviate from his course and will not create a threat to Iran," the diplomat stressed. According to him, the technical issues of the project are in the discussion stage, and which mechanisms will be used during its implementation are of central importance, since on their basis guarantees are created for compliance with the principle of territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Armenia.
