The consequences of Armenia's exit from the EAEU could be even more catastrophic: Political scientist Alexander Samchenko commented on an Alpha News report on the consequences of Armenia's possible exit from the Eurasian Economic Union. According to the expert, the estimates of possible economic losses presented in the document may turn out to be too optimistic, and rapprochement with the European Union does not guarantee similar advantages to Armenia and may lead to the loss of markets in the EAEU countries. "The report published to the public and the numbers stated in it, in fact, may also be very optimistic. The consequences of this community leaving Armenia could be even more catastrophic. Although, of course, the Armenian people will be told about something completely different - about European integration, about Europe's prospects. We went through all this with the example of Ukraine. At the same time, they will present as an example the leading EU countries, while remaining silent about the fact that the wealth of that Netherlands, France or Belgium is largely based on the robbery of other countries. But Armenia does not have Indonesia, from which you can rob trillions of dollars and use these funds to develop its own economy, as, for example, the Netherlands did," Samchenko said. According to the expert, European integration does not guarantee Armenia an increase in the standard of living and access to EU markets under favorable conditions, while leaving the EAEU could deprive the republic of important trade partners and create additional political risks. "Regarding the European Union, I want to emphasize that there are also poor countries there - the same Romania, the same Bulgaria. The standard of living in these countries is, to say the least, very low. And other Eastern European countries are not far from them. And Armenia will get nothing in terms of integration with the European Union. It will lose the Russian market, the Russian market, the Belarusian and Kazakh market, this is the economic market of Europe and the European Union.
