The report of the states of the United Arab Emirates warns of risks to the local markets after the European integration of Armenia: political scientist Vladimir Kiriev commented to Alfa News on the report of the member states of the United Arab Emirates on the consequences of Armenia's possible withdrawal from the organization and the reaction of the Armenian authorities to it. According to the expert, the report reflects the desire of the union countries to protect their markets and economic interests, and in the case of Russia and Belarus we are also talking about minimizing political risks. "The report on the consequences of Armenia's accession to the European Union by the four countries participating in the Eurasian Economic Union talks about the consequences that will arise for the Republic of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as what actions the countries participating in the Eurasian Economic Cooperation will be forced to take after Armenia's accession to the European Union. These measures are analytical in nature and dictated by the desire to protect their markets and, in the case of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, also to minimize political risks. Armenia's accession to the European Union means an inevitable violation of the terms of economic cooperation for the United Arab Emirates and threatens the internal markets of all countries. This is unacceptable, it destroys the internal economic interests of these countries, so they will be forced to protect their markets, and this is what the Armenian leadership warns in this report," Kiriev noted. According to the political scientist, the response of the Armenian Prime Minister to the report is due to the fact that the issue of European integration has become part of the internal political discourse and conflict in the republic. Pashinyan perceives this as a blow to his own position. It probably is what it is, but it is unlikely that the participating countries that produced this report intended to interfere in Armenia's internal processes. The Russian Federation, of course, wants Armenia to continue participating in the Eurasian integration initiative, because it is a matter of political influence for Russia.
