Iran's leader, Seyed Mujtaba Khamenei, issued a series of strategic directives to the top commanders of the armed forces, emphasizing increased readiness for combat and an immediate response to any renewed aggression, "without any geographical restrictions. He warned that "if the enemies resume military or terrorist attacks, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people will determine when these attacks will end and under what conditions." Among the directives, Seyed Khamenei ordered that the military target bank be updated to include "various types of tangible and intangible assets belonging to the US-Israeli enemy within the military's firing range." He also called for stronger military intelligence, greater independence in national defense doctrine and tactics, and the development of capabilities using modern technologies.
