šŗš» The Salt Lake is one step away from the point of no return
The salt lake of Qom, with a surface area of almost 180,000 dunams, divided between the three districts of Qom, Isfahan and Samnan, is no longer the same passionate wetland whose hard shell reflects the sunlight like an open mirror every spring.
š¹ Field observations by environmentalists this summer show that salt particles have been applied to the surface of the lake and the water input that once supported the life of this watershed has almost reached zero.
The Salt Lake is still in the prevention phase, not treatment.
The cost of saving it is far less than the costs once spent to save Lake Urmia, and spent today to restore it.
š¹ The completion of the plan for determining the water needs of the wetlands and the practical allocation of water resources by the Ministry of Energy, the management of mining activity and the protection of the continuity of the salt crust are three urgent priorities.
