The US Department of Justice has demanded the confiscation of $61 million of Tether cryptocurrency in 2 Chinese companies, claiming that these cryptocurrencies were obtained from the sale of Iranian oil and petrochemical products to Chinese buyers.

It was in mid-May when China's Ministry of Commerce announced a legal restraining order to block US sanctions against 5 Chinese refiners accused of buying Iranian oil.
