Ask GPT who to vote for and you'll get a Democrat. Ask Grok, a Republican forced to nominate one candidate in nearly 500 races for the Nov. 3 midterms, OpenAIs GPT-6.1 Sol chose a Democrat in 97% of her responses. Grok 4.7 chose Republican at 92%. The two agreed in less than one race in ten. The test came from Convovo, a studio led by Cornell professor Tapan Parikh. It runs through the developer APIs with web search enabled. The ChatGPT and Grok apps refused to answer. OpenAI says the API is not what ChatGPT users see. Their reading lists also diverged. Grok cited X in 41% of responses and a conservative Christian voter guide in 39%. GPT relies on Wikipedia, AP, Axius and Reddit. With the search turned off, GPT still picked a Democrat in 24 of 30 races. Grok refused on the 27th. Parikh told TechCrunch: For GPT, it's mostly already decided it's in the weights.
