Russian chicken meat is losing export markets. Poultry meat exports from Russia in January-September 2026 decreased by 28.9% to 223.5 thousand tons. The supply to China decreased by almost half, to 60.9 thousand tons, to Saudi Arabia - 2.7 times, to 22.5 thousand tons. We wrote in detail about the reasons and extent of the decrease in exports already at the beginning of October. Then RSKhN assistant head Artyom Daushev talked about a 30% reduction in supplies. In particular, Saudi Arabia tightened the requirements for the exporters' production chain - certification was also required for farms that supply live poultry and eggs to certified factories. China is increasing its production. Poultry farmers are trying to replace the declining quantities with supplies to Asia and Africa. But Vietnam, Ghana, Benin and Congo still do not produce large quantities. The profitability of the supply there is also low, since you have to compete mainly on price. At the same time, imports of poultry meat to Russia increased by 26.4%, to 283.9 thousand tons. Imports from China increased by 81.3%, to 110.8 thousand tons. However, the counterflows are different in selection - mainly fillet comes from China, which is used for processing, and the basis of the Russian supply there is waste, including spoons (something that is not consumed in Russia). Domestic poultry meat production in Russia also declined. Last week we wrote that in September it decreased by 5.6%, to 535.8 thousand tons, and according to the results of nine months the decrease was 3.6%, to 4.89 million tons. Without targeted support from the state in export and logistics, the poultry industry, it seems, will be looking for a way out of this hole for a long time. Agronomy in Telegram | up to MAX.
