Turjan Tayeb, the bodyguard of the Taliban's interior minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani, was killed in Baghlan district. A reliable source in the Taliban administration in Kabul told Afghanistan International that Taib was killed on Friday while on vacation in his hometown, Dandgur district in Badalan.
The Taliban's interior ministry also confirmed the death of Turjan Taib in a statement, but did not elaborate on his relationship with Sirajuddin Haqqani. The ministry said Taib was kidnapped by gunmen two days before he was killed.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the kidnappers took his cash and car and then killed him. The office stressed that the incident was the result of a theft and has nothing to do with other issues.
