The Taliban held a ceremony at the group's Foreign Ministry headquarters on Tuesday to launch the book "Ahl-e-Sunnah of the Jamaat" by Taliban leader Hebatullah Akhundzada.
A copy of the book, reviewed by Afghanistan International, states that Muslims must not rebel against their rulers, even if they commit a wrong or a sin. On page 131 of the book it is said: "We do not rebel against our princes. Even if they do injustice and sin. Further down the same page, obedience to rulers is considered "obligatory" until they command disobedience to God. The text reads: "We consider obedience to the emirs mandatory. We will not give up obedience, as long as they do not command sin and disobedience to Almighty Allah, and we pray for their benefit, for their recovery and protection." In their speeches over the past five years, the Taliban's cabinet members and governors have also emphasized obedience to Amir even in the event of injustice, and called the resistance and rebellion against him illegal.
