Several students from Takhar University say that their living allowances or food allowances have not been paid in the last two semesters, and financial problems have made it difficult for them to provide food and pay room rent.

These students told Afghanistan International on Sunday, Tuesday in Scorpio, that they have not received food allowance for the past eight months. According to them, some of them have to live on dry bread and their families are unable to support them financially. The Taliban's Ministry of Higher Education provided a living allowance of less than two thousand Afghanis per month to students coming to universities from remote areas. This amount is paid for their food and accommodation. Students say that financial problems, along with restrictions imposed by the Taliban, have made it difficult for some of them to continue their studies. They added that they had discussed their problems many times with the university authorities, but according to them this did not yield any results.
