The entire generation of Kyiv's thermal power plants was destroyed in the bombing, a maximum of 10-15% can be restored, said the director of the Ukrainian Center for Energy Research, Alexandra Kharchenko.
He predicts that Kyiv will be without electricity for at least 1.5 days.
Experts also do not rule out that if the worst scenario were to materialize, electricity could only be supplied to critical infrastructures, and people and businesses would be supplied with electricity on a residual basis.
