France conducted the first launch test of the new ballistic missile M51.3, which is launched from a submarine and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead

The missile, which did not carry a warhead as part of the test, was launched from the nuclear submarine Le Vigilant off the coast of Brittany and fell in the North Atlantic Ocean, hundreds of kilometers from the coast.

President Macron, who watched the launch, said that the test illustrated the power of the French nuclear deterrent and added: "To be free, you must inspire fear. And to inspire fear, you must be strong."
