A change in the import order of electric cars is being discussed in Armenia. In a conversation with Armen Abubian, author of the "Zman Abubian" podcast, Ruben Agajnian, an expert in electrical machinery, explained the procedure. As of January 1, 2027, the universal exemption from value added tax (VAT) on the import and sale of electric cars will cease to operate in Armenia. According to the expert, the previously existing quotas (initially 15,000, then another 5,000 units) have already been overshadowed. Now the RA Ministry of Economy is developing a new package, which, although it has not yet been finally approved by the National Assembly, may come into effect soon. "The new project envisages that every citizen will be able to contact the Ministry of Economy and receive a quota of up to 15 million drams in order to import one electric car for his use. At the end of the year, the value added tax (VAT) will be refunded, and the same citizen can use this privilege only once," Agajnian said. The new order will apply to both new and used electric vehicles manufactured after 2024. The exemption will apply to cars imported from China as well as from the US or other countries. "This is a good opportunity for those who want to buy a quality electric car and avoid the flashbacks of the market." All Call |: 106.0FM.
