Azerbaijan's armed forces have strengthened their positions in the Sev Lich Lake area, according to satellite image data studied by the Observer.
When comparing images from 2024-2026. New dirt roads, expansion of existing roads, clearance of areas, engineering works around military positions, as well as the appearance of new buildings stand out. Figure 1 also shows the location of the Azerbaijani (AZ) and Armenian (ARM) positions.
Photo 2 shows in detail one of the positions of Azerbaijan, where reinforcement work is recorded. The positions are located on the territory of Armenia, according to maps of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union from 1975.
Accordingly, the strengthening of positions in the territory of Armenia continued even after the beginning of the demarcation and the initialization of the peace agreement. We previously reported that the armed forces of Azerbaijan expanded and strengthened their positions in the Jarmuk region.
