Turkey is preparing to host and chair the UN Climate Change Conference "Cop 31" in Antalya from November 9 to 20. Ankara is moving to a new stage in its climate diplomacy, after a parade of participation in international negotiations that began in the 1990s. Turkey aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 643 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2035. The "Zero Waste" project launched by Emin Erdogan in 2017 aims to increase the recycling rate to 60 percent by 2030. Hosting the conference enhances Turkey's role in international cooperation to tackle climate change.
