Democrat Kathy Hokul wins a new term as governor of New York after defeating Trump-backed Republican Bruce Blackman, according to the Associated Press. Hukol retains the position she received in 2021, after winning her first full term in the 2022 election. Hukol focused during her campaign on criticizing Trump's policies and pledged to reduce the cost of living and invest in education. Trump announced his support for Blackman and attended an election rally in his favor last October.
