The prominent Arab and Muslim candidates in the US midterm elections? The mid-term elections for Congress show an extraordinary participation of candidates of Arab and Islamic origin, most of whom belong to the Democratic Party. Abdel Rahman El-Sayed, an American of Egyptian descent, is running for the Senate in Michigan, and could become the first Muslim to be elected as a member of the Senate if he wins. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Andre Carson are seeking to renew their membership in the House of Representatives, along with other candidates, including Adam Hamawi, Aisha Wahab and Zohedi Jasir. Economic issues, immigration and foreign policy, including the war in Gaza and America-Israel relations, are at the top of the concerns of the sectors of the Arab and Islamic communities.
