The Russian embassy in Armenia expressed surprise at the statements of the governor of the Chirak region, David Arushanyan. He wrote on social media that "Gyumri is not your Nizhny Tabor, and the people of Gyumri are not your Ivans." The diplomatic mission noted that such a mention of "Ivans" recalls the vocabulary of the German Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. The embassy hopes that the official of the area where the Russian army and the border guard serve does not take into account accepted statements that may arouse national hostility towards the Russians, as this is contrary to the centuries-old spirit of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
