European satellite companies are stepping up efforts to counter Elon Musk's dominance of military communications after restrictions on Starlink service disrupted drone operations in Ukraine.

The Finnish companies ISEI and Nokia have collaborated with Ukraine to develop an autonomous satellite communication system, and initial versions are expected to be launched in 2028.

The French company Eutelsat, which already operates in Ukraine, also wants to be an alternative in this area.
