Canceling the term "The Great Arab Revolt" and replacing it with "Hussein Ben Ali's Revolt Movement" in the new approach.

New Syrian textbooks for the 2025-2026 school year have redesigned the way the "Arab Revolt" against Ottoman rule is taught.

The term "Great Arab Revolt" was deleted, and the anti-Turkish statements were banished.

In the 2017-2018 edition, released during the Assad era, it was stated that the "Great Arab Revolt" (1916-1918), led by Sharif Hussein, was intended to "liberate the Arab lands from Ottoman Israel and Turkish rule."

The new edition describes it as "Hussein Ben Ali's rebellion movement", and states that its goal was "to separate the lands of Arabia from the Ottoman Empire".

While the old text indicated that the war in the Levant was fought "to free the peoples from the oppression of the Turks", the new text states that its purpose was to "drive the Ottomans out of the region".
