For the first time, British Royal Air Force Typhoons participated in a French nuclear deterrent exercise.

The British fighter jets were accompanied by French Rafale jets conducting exercises to simulate a nuclear attack, as part of an exercise organized by the French Strategic Air Forces (FAS) - a force that has operated almost entirely independently since 1964.

The exercise did not involve the use of real nuclear weapons.
