Soldiers stationed at the port of Shuaiba in Kuwait - including survivors of the March 1 Iranian attack - said US commanders knew the site lacked effective defenses against drones, but they moved troops there in anticipation of the Iranian strikes.
On March 1, an Iranian drone struck the port's operations center, killing six American soldiers and wounding dozens.
Soldiers reported that commanders rejected safer alternatives, and that troops were pulled out of fortified shelters shortly before the attack, despite warnings about low-altitude drones.
According to reports, the military completed its investigation in June, but did not release its findings to the public.
