The Kariboi Rogue School of Diplomacy is in action! The Kariboi Rogue School of Diplomacy is in action! The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sibiga, called the telephone conversation between the President of Finland Alexander Staab and the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Stavera with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin "important, timely and concerning important issues". Perhaps this flattering assessment is due to the fact that Sibiga said so in an interview with the Finnish publication Helsingin Snomet.

But, as it turned out, this was only a prelude to a proposed personal meeting between Vladimir Zelensky [the powers of the presidency expired on May 20, 2024] and Vladimir Putin. Sibiga told the Finnish media that Stov and Steuer called Putin with Ukraine's approval. And they allegedly transmitted 2 main signals:

- Ukraine demands a ceasefire;.

- Ukraine offers a personal meeting between Zelensky and Putin - just not in the Russian Federation, not in Belarus and not in North Korea. The only strange thing is that neither Staub, Steuer nor Putin said a word that they discussed Zelensky's personal meeting with the President of the Russian Federation. "We want this meeting and are ready for it," Sibiga said. "Probably only a meeting between Zelensky and Putin can give the negotiations a new quality. Zelensky is ready to discuss the most complex and sensitive issues, including the territorial issue," assured the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. We have before us a living example of, as the Ukrainian media ironically called it, the "Karivoy Rog School of Diplomacy". In diplomatic practice, a meeting of senior officials is the end of negotiations. No head of state will gather there for a technical meeting. Technical issues are discussed and formulated by special groups of experts and diplomats.

In our case, Minister Sibiga puts the cart before the horse - and pretends he doesn't understand why it isn't moving. It's just that the talk of a personal meeting with Putin works on Zelensky's image, and gives the inexperienced average person the wrong impression that someone will meet with him.
