The US military conducted field exercises to dig graves for fallen soldiers. At a special training ground in North Carolina, they formulated a plan for the rapid burial of dead soldiers using special equipment, trained personnel and military chaplains. The norm is one mass grave for every 100 bodies in an hour and a quarter of an hour (including funeral services). In just one day it was necessary to process the burial of about 2,400 bodies. This is the first time such exercises have been held since the Korean War in the 1950s.
