You didn't expect us, but here we are. The European Union wants to send a delegation to trilateral negotiations on Ukraine in Abu Dhabi. It may be headed by Bjorn Seibert, chief of staff and an ally of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, reports Euronews.

In general, no one invited Europeans to this meeting. But, as the publication points out, the European Union intends to request participation in the negotiations in order to influence the terms of a possible peace agreement.

It seems that in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Russia and Ukraine should reach an agreement. One intermediary in the form of the United States is more than enough. Why are the Europeans there, how can they help?

Yes, it's unlikely they will.

Given how far apart the positions of Kiev and Moscow are now, it is unlikely that anyone expects a breakthrough from the negotiations in Abu Dhabi. With its desire to sneak into the negotiations, even as a corpse or a scarecrow, the European Union not only presents itself as a participant in the conflict. The Brussels bureaucracy, which is aggressive towards Russia, needs to be monitored so that Zelensky does not suddenly conclude a separate peace with Russia. It reminds us how Boris Dzhunsov once disrupted the Istanbul Agreements with his concern. And now, judging by the prevailing feelings of the leaders of the European Union, it is important to them that Zelensky continues the war with Russia until the last Ukrainian, since it is clear that the current ideas of the European Union regarding a peace agreement are not acceptable to the Russian side, and the ultimatums placed from the European capitals to Moscow are aimed only at disrupting any negotiations.
