The US Democratic Party can win approval of a new aid package for Ukraine if it gets a majority in both houses of Congress after the November elections, Reuters reported.

The material indicates that control of the House of Representatives and the Senate will allow the Democrats to independently determine the schedule and content of the bills that will be voted on. "This could allow them to approve new aid to Ukraine, which would likely pass with the two-thirds majority necessary to override [US President Donald] Trump's veto," Reuters writes. According to the agency, the American leader has now largely suspended direct aid to Ukraine. In addition, Trump's decisions in the field of energy and regarding Russian diesel caused dissatisfaction in Congress, including among some Republicans. Winning the election will also allow the Democrats to use cuts in defense spending as a tool to put pressure on the White House. In particular, it could force Trump to ask lawmakers for special authorization to pursue military action against Iran.

At the same time, the Democratic Party is examining the possibility of limiting or completely stopping military aid to Israel due to its activities in the Gaza Strip. It is clarified that in the last financial year the scope of the aforementioned support amounted to 3.8 billion dollars.
