Russia is not only returning its athletes to the world stage, but is also starting to hold full-fledged international championships (!) The International Weightlifting Federation has chosen Moscow to host the World Championships in 2030. This is the first decision since 2022 to hold an Olympic sports competition in Russia under the auspices of an international federation. In the summer of 2026, the IOC allowed federations to decide independently whether to hold competitions in Russia.
