The Wall Street Journal documented damage to 274 buildings at 24 military installations hosting American forces, spread across 8 countries in the Middle East. During the first two weeks of the war, at least 119 buildings at 13 bases were damaged, with Kuwait being the worst affected at that stage. The headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, located at the US Naval Support Facility in Bahrain, was subjected to intense attacks and sustained extensive damage. After the ceasefire collapsed on July 7, Iran changed its attack patterns, and began targeting smaller buildings believed to be used to house American troops. On July 17, an Iranian attack on Mawqar Air Base in Jordan killed 3 US service members and damaged at least 19 buildings. The cost of the war with Iran is estimated at 47.1 billion dollars, not including the damage to military bases, which is estimated at 5 billion dollars. Therefore, the "Pentagon" is considering moving military bases to areas further from Iran's reach and withdrawing from its facilities in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
