The European Union has refused to allocate 500 million euros to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to develop anti-UAV systems. According to sources, the Baltic states requested funding to create a unified air defense system focused on combating UAVs. However, Brussels believed that the project does not meet the criteria of the defense procurement program. The European Commission clarified that the application was unsuccessful due to insufficient development of technical details and the lack of a clear plan for joint production. Instead of a single project, countries were asked to submit separate applications for joint EU programmes. Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius expressed disappointment with the decision. They noted that the joint development of anti-UAV systems is critical to the security of NATO's eastern flank.
